Grigoris Maravelias
Grigoris is an Astrophysicist and Data Scientist with over 15 years of research and teaching experience. He has worked in Greece (Foundation for Research and Technology, University of Crete, National Observatory of Athens), Chile (Universidad de Valparaíso), and Czechia (Astronomical Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences). His research focuses on massive stars and stellar evolution, with extensive observing experience at major international facilities, as well as applications of machine learning to astrophysical problems. He has served as a Lecturer at the University of Crete, tutor and co-organizer of the Summer School for Astrostatistics in Crete, and co-founder of the AstroStat Academy.
He has broad experience teaching and mentoring students in physics, data science, and machine learning. With more than 20 years of active involvement in science communication, he is committed to open science and to strengthening professional–amateur and citizen-scientist collaborations, contributing to both their training and effective coordination.
Since 2022, he has been coordinating PeriAstron, working to expand its activities and enhance its impact in research, education, and outreach.
