Athens Science Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary and it will be located in at Technopolis City of Athens from April 16 to 21. The theme “Tales of Change” aims to highlight the important changes in innovation, technology, and science that mark our everyday life and open new horizons. It connects visitors of all ages to a unique interactive journey of knowledge and entertainment.
We take part in the celebration!
️️🔆 The Sun is the nearest star and the only one whose surface we can observe in detail. As it approaches its maximum activity, its surface will be filled with a variety of formations, such as spots, filaments and prominences, in the coming months. We will use a specialized solar telescope, equipped with a suitable filter, allowing all these formations to be observed. Simultaneously, we will provide direct imaging from a camera to a large screen. Visitors will have the opportunity to look through the telescope and talk with us about solar phenomena and astronomy.
You will find us on Thursday and Friday (April 18 and 19), 0900-1400, very easily at the yard under the Sun (but do not worry … we will have shadow!).
💫Interactive exhibition where the visitors will have the opportunity to operate a telescope under our guidance. The goal? … the get familiar with the celestial sphere, target search (stars, nebulae, planets) and aiming a telescope! Additionally, we will have at your disposal a touch game where you will learn the constellations (also ideal for persons with visual impairments), while you will be able to play with us some quizzes.
You will easily find us at the exhibition hall Saturday and Sunday (April 20 and 21), 1100-19000. Pass by to get to know each other!
🔭 Seminar “Telescope, a small window into the Universe”. How do I choose a telescope, how do I handle it, what can I see through it and what can I photograph? An interactive presentation with many types of mounts and telescopes so that everyone can become familiar with their handling and operation. Bring your own telescope if you would like help in handling or upgrading it.
Find us on Sunday (April 21), at 1900, in INNOVATHENS.
