Iakovos Strikis
He is a graduate of the “Photography Technician” department of the DIEK-Chaidari and an amateur astronomer since 1999. He has been involved in the dissemination of sciences, mainly astronomy, to primary and secondary school students for many years, and has worked in the field of astrotourism (2011-2015).
He has served three times as president of the Amateur Astronomy Association and during his terms, he was a pioneer in organizing two “Panhellenic Meetings of Amateur Astronomers” (responsible for organizing and coordinating activities for hundreds of people from all over Greece in isolated areas in the mountains), as well as in a plethora of activities and events for the general public (particularly during the International Year of Astronomy 2009).
Since 2019, he has been actively participating in international research programs on “exoplanets”. Since 2020, he has also been actively involved in the science of geology and its dissemination to the general public. He has set up small collections of minerals from all over Greece for schools (4th Primary School of Korydallos, 7th Secondary School of Nikaia), and collaborates with geologists and field researchers in Lavrio for the discovery of new minerals.
In addition, professionally, he is intensively involved in photogrammetry, 3D object scanning, virtual reality, and virtual tours (e.g. museums).
