As part of the ongoing effort to promote scientific knowledge, empower students, and support the professional community, PeriAstron proudly announces its support for the implementation of the 2024 Summer School for Astrostatistics in Crete. This event, which will take place from July 8 to July 12, 2024, is hosted by the astronomy team of the Physics Department of the University of Crete in collaboration with the Institute of Astrophysics of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH).
Training the new generation
The School aims to bridge the gap between theory and practice and to help participants advance from a beginner level to a more advanced one. The approach includes guiding students and young researchers in the use of the most common tools for astronomers’ daily analysis needs. Each topic provides the necessary theoretical background, accompanied by continuous exercises for participants to practice on real astronomical data and problems. Emphasis is placed on developing programming skills that will serve as a quick reference for their future work, while also fostering relationships among participants and cultivating future collaborations.
PeriAstron's commitment on education and research
Supporting the School aligns with our commitment to education, research, and the promotion of scientific exploration. Through such initiatives, we aim to contribute to the empowerment of the next generation of astronomers.
